Asset Details:
BM-C-7 is a development planned for the Campos Basin of Brazil. It will utilize two fixed wellhead platforms connected to an FPSO. The development will produce heavy oil and is situated in a water depth of approximately 350 feet. It is envisaged that the field will come on production in 2009 and that it will also contain waterflood facilities.
Project Details:
GATE, LLC has developed a set of functional requirements for the project associated with the material selection and water handling aspects of the development. This exercise had the following primary technical objectives:
- Ensure that the materials selection approach for the topsides facilities is commensurate with anticipated facilities design options including a number of alternative approaches to waterflood treatment and produced water handling.
- Evaluate topsides design requirements and develop a high-level functional specification to guide subsequent detailed design with respect to materials selection and the optimization of water handling facilities. This included both produced water treatment and water injection systems.
This work applied the GATE, LLC reservoir souring prediction tool and our materials selection expertise to develop a fit for purpose materials specification strategy for the development. In addition, significant support was provided to the Client with respect to the design of the water treatment and handling facilities and the need to develop a robust treatment strategy sufficient to account for the challenges of heavy oil production.
