Flow Assurance Management and Operations Support

Asset Details:

The Mardi Gras pipeline system is situated in the Gulf of Mexico and is the World's highest capacity deepwater pipeline system. Mardi Gras comprises of the Caesar, Cleopatra, Okeanos, Endymion and Proteus pipelines, which transport oil and gas production from BP's Atlantis, Holstein, Mad Dog, Nakika and Thunderhorse deepwater production facilities to shore. The total capacity of the system is of the order of one million barrels of oil per day and 1.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

Project Details:

GATE, LLC provide flow assurance management and operations support to Mardi Gras. This has previously included the development and implementation of a comprehensive flow assurance management plan for the system to manage fluids sampling, chemical systems management, and data interpretation.

More recently, we have been involved in implementing this plan and aligning it with production requirements and the pipeline integrity management program. In this aspect of the project we have been involved in the following specific activities.

• Coordination of chemical treatment optimization and pigging strategies for the oil export lines.
• Troubleshooting of flow assurance issues and the addressing of identified risk factors.
• Coordination of the laboratory testing supporting the flow assurance management plan.
• Development of information tracking and review tools to facilitate data handling and interpretation.
