Kerr-McGee: Red Hawk |
Red Hawk spar is the first cell spar development in the Gulf of Mexico and is operated by Kerr-McGee. The platform is located in Garden Banks Block 876 in a water depth of approximately 5,300 ft. The field commenced gas production from two subsea wells in the Summer of 2004.
GATE, LLC was commissioned to undertake an assessment of the erosion and corrosion risks associated with increasing future production levels beyond those originally anticipated during field development. This assessment provided the basis for GATE, LLC to develop an asset integrity management program for the subsea infrastructure, production flowlines, risers and topsides pipework upstream of the separators. This incorporated sand management and surveillance, production chemistry monitoring and control, chemical treatment efficacy and risk-based inspection of topsides components.
GATE, LLC also managed and oversaw the installation and calibration of topsides sand monitoring equipment, including acoustic sand detectors and sand sampling manifolds. A training program concerning sand management and probe interpretation was also developed and presented to operators on the facility. The implementation of the sand management and surveillance program resulted in a production increase of 25%.
